What do you need? Guidance? A place to process life events or stressful family relationships? A nonjudgmental listener? Help understanding if your mood related symptoms needs accurate diagnosis and treatment? A toolbox to help you cope with self-defeating or anxious recurring thoughts? Maybe a little of all of this?
This is what I do. I help people navigate changes in their life, usually around the time of a birth of baby.
I have raised and launched 4 children (now in their 20's) and I have specialized training in perinatal mood disorders. My formal clinical education and hard-earned wisdom inform of my therapeutic approach. And, I am passionate about helping women. Have questions? Give me a call and we can chat.
Women who are pregnant or recently have had a baby and are concerned about the feelings they are having that interfere with everyday living -- anxiety, sleeplessness, crying, panic, guilt, not feeling bonded to the baby, scary thoughts about themselves or the baby, sadness, or physical symptoms -- proper assessment and swift intervention are key to reduction of symptoms. Postpartum depression/anxiety/OCD is the most common complication of childbirth and is treatable with proper intervention. This is not your fault and you are not alone.
Counseling is also available to those suffering a pregnancy related loss, have terminated a pregnancy or are having trouble becoming pregnant. I am open to working with people who are NOT postpartum but would like to engage in therapy.
